In 1983, Dean set out on his own after years of hands-on experience working for Arbor Tree and the Monterey County Department of Public Works. He had spent years learning the science and craft of tree care — studying local species, understanding root systems, mastering the art of safe removal and precise pruning in every terrain the Salinas Valley and Monterey coastline could throw at him.
With nothing more than a truck, a chainsaw, and a reputation for doing things the right way, Dean launched The Tree Man. Word spread quickly. Homeowners, ranchers, golf courses, and city agencies all came to rely on his honesty, skill, and the kind of work ethic that only comes from a man who genuinely loves what he does.
